EC Funded Project - 'ELECTROBAND'

In 2004 Ormiston Wire joined a consortium of European companies to participate in a two year development project funded under the European Commission's sixth EU Framework programme for Research and Technological Development (FP6).

The Programme objectives are focussed on developing the competitiveness of European businesses to allow them to redress the balance associated with low cost manufacturing elsewhere in the world by developing added value and technologically enhanced products and processes.

The project's specific objective is in the field of healthcare and is to develop a novel treatment system for the accelerated healing of ulcers and other 'difficult to heal' wounds. Ormiston's involvement is focussed on the development of specialist wire products and related processes.
