Thursday 20 October 2011; Mary Macleod Conservative MP for Brentford and Iselworth mentions Ormiston Wire in response to a statement from the Minister of State, Department of Energy and Climate Change Charles Hendry.
The Minister of State, Department of Energy and Climate Change (Charles Hendry) There are a number of Government policies that support small and medium-sized enterprises. The green deal, for example, will be available to SMEs when it is launched next year. It will enable them to improve the energy efficiency of their properties, thereby reducing carbon emissions and energy costs. The green deal will also drive demand for energy efficiency products and services, from which SMEs will be able to benefit.
Mary Macleod Ormiston Wire in Isleworth has previously won the Queen’s award for sustainable development, and has a wealth of experience in wind turbines, solar panels and energy-efficient lighting. Will the Government ensure that SMEs such as Ormiston Wire are represented in the discussions on the green deal, to ensure that SMEs are given real support for any energy-efficient schemes?
Charles Hendry I am delighted to hear from my hon. Friend of the steps that Ormiston Wire has taken; they are typical of the measures that many companies have taken. The green deal is a way of encouraging SMEs to put in place energy efficiency measures, and I am glad to see that they are taking advantage of that. The feed-in tariff regime will also encourage them to look at microgeneration.

At Ormiston Wire, we are proud of a family heritage that dates back over 200 years. Over this time, the key to our success and longevity has been our ability to adapt and diversify, while still maintaining the highest quality standards.
This is just as true today. So we are pleased to announce and launch a new look and a fresh identity for our company. This reflects and symbolises the strength and scope of our business and our continuing commitment to meeting the demands of a diverse and ever-changing marketplace. As such, it is much more than just a cosmetic facelift.
We are pleased to have been helped in this process by the Design Council, through their Designing Demand initiative. With their guidance and mentorship we were able to identify and commission a graphic design consultancy that best met our criteria in terms of what we wished to achieve and how we wished to proceed.
From various companies reviewed, the London-based consultancy A2 Design was selected for its strategic approach, creativity and understanding, of our business and our needs.
The new identity features a more contemporary and distinctive logo, while still retaining a link with our past. The new look to the website presents a cleaner and more contemporary shop window to our company and services, at the same time making it easier to identify and access specialist market sectors and the products and technical specifications within them.
Overall, our aim is to project an image for our company that truly reflects our leadership in offering the most comprehensive range of wire-related products available in the marketplace.
